A lot has changed in a couple of weeks, we had always known the UK Technology sector would bounce back, but with the Prime Ministers new roadmap out of the lockdown, companies are able to reboot their plans for growth and get the economy moving again.

Demand for skilled tech specialists is heating up and we are already making more and more placements across the country, but changes to trends in working are creating a shift in the focus of Tech opportunities in the UK with a recent 2020 Tech job survey highlighting some unexpected places as the best locations for tech jobs……. hint, it’s not London.

The study found that when adjusted for cost of living and job creation, Leeds comes out on top at the best location for Tech opportunities in the UK, with Birmingham moving up two places into second place.

Tech Town Rank

  1. Leeds
  2. Birmingham
  3. Belfast
  4. Manchester
  5. Cambridge
  6. Edinburgh
  7. London
  8. Bristol
  9. Reading
  10. Bath

You can see the whole survey here.

Remote working, digital advancements, AI and calls for a different way of balancing work and life are creating the conditions for a redistribution of tech jobs more evenly around the country and enabling start-ups and larger tech leaders to source talent from places, until recently, ignored.

With that being said, the jobs market is still highly competitive, and candidate driven. At Colossus Associates we specialise is cutting through the barrage of job ads and competing voices, to put you at the door of the best companies in UK Tech. We should be your first port of call if you're ever on the market and looking for a new role.
