Salary - £35,000 TO £40,000
Job Position
Software Developers based in offices in Winchester to be responsible for the development, support and maintenance of the company’s software. The successful postholder will also be providing analysis related to software development and solving problems. These responsibilities will be carried out using Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, HTML/JavaScript, and other proven software development technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
• Undertaking assigned software development activities such as:
• New application development, Feature enhancements, Maintenance, fault investigation and resolution
• Code reviews and Merging between source control branches
• Database scripting and optimisation & Data migration
• Unit testing and production of test evidence
• Documentation and Creation of installation packages
• Undertaking software development in accordance with approved departmental procedures, good practice guidelines and coding standards. Correct use of company systems such as source code control and incident management systems.
• Reviewing business requirements to design and estimate your own tasks. Completing tasks within these estimates and implement, testing and debugging modules and small projects.
• Developing familiarity with all company products and all the technologies used to build them, and specialising in a subset of them.
• Providing out of hours (OOH) support on a rota basis to cover morning, evening and weekend support shifts.
• If appropriate, providing internal and external software release support.
• Providing on-site client support (UK and Overseas) if required.
• Attending meetings, as required, and being responsible for any assigned follow-up actions.
• Supporting with any other tasks as from time to time may be assigned by your line manager.
Interfacing with Other Departments:
• Proactive cooperation of other people within the organisation regardless of department.
• Such interactions would typically include:
• Testing & Customer Support - Help diagnose and classify faults and fault correction.
• Release & Configuration - Assistance with new product developments, release issues, and revisions to release procedures.
• Providing technical assistance where appropriate.

The successful Software Developer will have the following skills and experience:
Essential - Qualification/Training in a Computing or Information Technology course (2:1 Degree), or
Essential - Approved apprenticeship scheme
Desirable Candidate
• Minimum of 1 years related software development experience
• Any previous related work experience such as work placement would be a plus
Technical Experience:
• Knowledge of .net framework
• Competent Microsoft Visual Studio (C# and VB.net), Microsoft SQL Server, XML, HTML/JavaScript
• Understanding of source control systems (TFS/VSTS)
• Ability to work with legacy code lines (VB6)
