We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a growing team of talented developers, working for a global online marketplace. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, agile-focused e-commerce business on truly innovative new technology and projects including AI.

Responsibilities Include

• Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility
• Write high quality distributed system software
• Drive best practices and engineering excellence
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software
• Establish architectural principles and select design patterns
• Create, maintain and extend existing features, and collaborate with the rest of the development team to spec, design and build new features end-to-end
• Focus on developing reliable, scalable, highly available apps, tools and services for a variety of end users
• Build fault tolerant, self-healing, globally distributed applications and services
• Monitor large data sets and build platforms to dynamically optimise user experiences on the fly


Minimum of 5 years’ experience of the following:

• Strong commercial experience with Java
• Developing software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
• Creating software in a variety of modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C/C++) and open-source technologies (Linux, Spring)
• Designing and developing large-scale, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using Java, C#, or C++, and Object Oriented Design
• Developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations
• Writing unit tests to deliver software that scales

• 35 hours per week
• Part remote once COVID pandemic ends
• Must be eligible to live/work in the UK
